The Zambia Telecommunication Company (Zamtel) has launched a new service dubbed “Zamtel DStv mobile services” which will allow customers on Zamtel network to access live DStv streaming on the mobile phones.
Under the new service, customers will be able to access 13 DStv channels on the mobile phones including those showing live the Africa Cup of Nations that kicks off in South Africa January 19.
The new facility, which will be accessed on selected handsets, is expected to boost Zamtel’s subscriber base, especially since it is being launched just before the AFCON tournament.
Streaming live the AFCON on mobile phones is also expected to result in high demand for smartphones by subscribers who are anxiously waiting to watch the AFCON.
Zamtel is the country’s third largest operator, with only one million subscribers.
