Tanzania’s regulator is reported to be considering slashing the interconnect fee charged for calls across networks.
Reports this week said Tanzania’s Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) expects to make a decision this month on significantly lowering the interconnect fee, which would drive down call costs but would also put pressure on telcos.
The last interconnect fee change occurred in January 2012, when TCRA pegged the interconnection fee at a ceiling of TZS 112.70, equivalent to USD cents 7.16.
