WhatsApp launches ‘Lists’ to organize chats easier than ever before. Using this feature, users can manage their conversations by custom categorizing group chats thus providing an even more convenient experience in the app. The application launched chat filers back in April 2024, succeeding that WhatsApp is expanding its feathers. The new organizational options provide more control to its users.
Communication is becoming more and more complex in net generation, this feature will help you to streamline interactions and improve overall usability. The primary aim of this feature is to deliver a more efficient way to assort users’ contacts and conversations.
With the custom list, users can easily focus on relevant communications without unwanted scrolling down through the entire chat history. This will be very advantageous for users with loads of contacts or group chats.
Creating a custom list is as easy as a,b,c. You can do this by simply clicking on the ‘+’ which can be found in the filter bar at the top of your Chats tab in WhatsApp. For any edits in that list, just long-press it.
Likewise, you can add both groups and one-on-one chats to any list. The created list will appear in the filter bar.
Give a name to the list, you can even give some creative titles and emojis for easy identification. The created list will be visible along with the existing filters such as All, Unread, Favorites, and Groups in the WhatsApp interface. If you have created more lists, just swipe left or right in the bar to get through them.
The main advantage of a custom list is obviously the level of personalization it offers. This customization allows users greater flexibility in how users interact with their contacts.
If you have sorted the list into family, friends, neighbors, groups, works, or more, users can easily concentrate on relevant conversations at any given moment.
If you are a working professional who is receiving multiple group chats and individual conversations daily, this streamlined feature will be beneficial for you. This will help you to segregate important discussions from less relevant ones, thereby increasing productivity and lowering distractions.
WhatsApp is dedicated to delivering all the needs, and they have understood the fact that the needs may change over time. So the app allows easy editing on the custom lists.
However, the app will continue to open in the ‘All’ category by default, which shows all messages in sequential order. The new feature is considered to be an improvement over the old chat filters which provided only four options.
WhatsApp already has a feature that allows users to view unread messages using a search bar filter. This feature can be accessed with the new filter bubbles that are displayed on top of the chat screen. To streamline the search, Google-owned email services have already launched this feature back in 2020.
Even though the feature has been rolled out, it will take a few weeks for it to be available to every WhatsApp user.
The update can be expected just a few days after WhatsApp announces that users can now add contacts from any device, not only the primary smartphone linked with their account.
