SOFTWARE
UltiSales Retail Software, part of the JSE-listed UCS Group, a South African retail software company, has notched up 300 point-of-sale software sites in Botswana via its distributor, Ultimate Solutions – and is expecting to increase sales by at least 20% during the next 12 months.
This is according to Stephen Mallaby, MD of UltiSales Retail Software. He says Botswana remains a buoyant market for the company.
With 300 companies now using UltiSales POS software in Botswana, this includes a total of 900 users, a figure that is expected to grow well beyond 1000 by the end of the year. There are a number of big-name companies using UltiSales, including Nokia, Choppies Supermarkets, World Group, Trans Africa and Timco.
Mallaby says the software range can be used from a single-branch operation to a multi-branch operation, numbering up to many stores if necessary. Andre Botha, MD of Ultimate Solutions, UltiSales’
distributor in Botswana, says the market is “
still alive and well”
, but feeling the effects of the recession. He says : “
The recession hit Botswana a little later than other parts of the world.”
“
We are expecting to grow our turnover with the introduction of UltiSales’
s Version 5 product and plan to make inroads into the Tier 2&
3 markets, especially with regards to our bigger multi-store customers.”
Landlocked Botswa’
s economy is dominated by the fast-growing service sector, as well as having a world-renowned diamond industry, tourism, and manufacturing. Its economic growth rate has outpaced the economic growth of even so-called Asian Tigers and the World Bank describes it as one of the world’s brightest development success stories.
