Tigo Rwanda and Reach for Change have launched the Changemakers Hub. This hub, located at the Tigo Headquarters in Muhima, will provide office space and resources for applicants and current Digital Changemakers.
Last month, Tigo Rwanda in partnership with the non-profit organization Reach for Change, launched the 4th edition of the Tigo Digital Changemakers Award. The competition aims at identifying and supporting social entrepreneurs with digital tools and technology to improve communities and future generations.
Speaking at the public opening of the Changemakers Hub at Tigo HQ, Mrs Elisabeth Mwangi, Tigo People Director, said: “Tigo and Reach for Change are reinforcing their strategic partnership in supporting Digital Changemakers. We are happy to be the driving force that provides solutions that impact lives and at the same time bridge the digital divide.”
The Changemakers Hub will be open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and will provide support to applicants who apply to the competition and the changemakers from previous years working on their projects.
The Reach for Change team also announced that the application deadline for the 2015 Tigo Digital Changemakers competition has been extended to 29th August. All those interested in applying or finding out more about the competition are encouraged to visit the Changemakers Hub or visit www.tigo.co.rw/digitalchangemakers
Speaking on behalf for the Reach for Change’ changemakers’, Uwase Dominique Alonga said: “I am really excited about the new office space created for us by Tigo – the first Changemakers Hub. It’s great to have a place not only to work but to meet the other Changemankers and inspire each other. I really believe that everyone has great stories to share and I can’t wait to be close to them and be challenged by them! Thank you Tigo.”
Speaking on behalf of Reach for Change, Lindy Larson said: “So far 5 Changemakers have been supported by the programme and have impacted the lives of over 46,000 Rwandan children. We already have a portfolio of Changemakers who are creating impressive impact. This hub will give them the boost they need.”
