Tigo Cash has launched yet another innovation which allows customers to buy international airtime for friends and families in Ghana and overseas.
With effect from September 13, 2016, all Tigo cash customers can purchase airtime for over 100 countries across the world including the UK, US, China, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Togo, Canada and United Arab Emirates just to mention a few.
Additionally, Tigo customers who are roaming can also purchase airtime for themselves and other international networks at no extra cost.
To enjoy the service, Tigo Cash customers will need to dial *501*2# and select ‘Buy International Airtime’. They then have to follow the prompt on their screens by entering the country code, selecting the network, entering the amount and the recipient’s number after which they will have to confirm purchase with their secret Personal Identification Number (PIN). Recipient will be credited instantly.
Speaking at a media briefing in Accra, the Chief Commercial Officer for Tigo, Tara Squire, said: “We are always at the forefront of financial inclusion in the country, and we are very excited that this service will make it easy for customers to buy airtime for their family and friends overseas and access their Tigo Cash wallets outside the borders of Ghana.”
