Tanzania MNB enables mobile payments

Tanzania’s National Microfinance Bank (NMB) has launched NMB mobile bills payment whereby over 550,000 NMB mobile customers will be able to pay DSTV subscriptions, DAWASCO water bills, Vodacom post-paid and Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) Taxes such as property and personal tax.
NMB Chief Executive Officer Mark Wiessing said at the NMB mobile bills payment launch that the service is designed to be a convenient, affordable and safe way to pay bills from the palm of the customer’s hands.
He said the launch of NMB mobile bills payment affirmed NMB’s commitment to improving convenience for its customers through the use of ICT. He reaffirmed NMB’s commitment to offering practical and very affordable services to the people of Tanzania.
Weissing thanked TRA, DSTV, Vodacom and DAWASCO for partnering with NMB in developing NMB mobile bills payment service.
Speaking on behalf of the partners, Harry Kitilya, Commissioner-General of TRA said making tax and bill payments, monthly subscriptions and pre-paid airtime purchases easier is one of the partners’ major objectives.
