Samsung Galaxy S24 series users will now be able to access select AI-powered features from their smartphones such as Live Translation and Interpretation through the Galaxy Buds.
On Tuesday, the company announced that the features are being rolled out to the Galaxy Buds 2, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, and Galaxy Buds FE through a firmware update. However, only Galaxy Buds paired with the newly launched S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra will be able to make use of Samsung’s Galaxy AI’s voice translation tools.
Live Translate and Interpret By Galaxy AI Is Coming To Galaxy Buds 2 And 2 Pro
The Live Translate, when enabled, allows users to see call translations in real-time displayed on the Galaxy S24’s screen while they are speaking to another person through the connected Galaxy Buds. This ensures seamless conversations in languages supported by the system without any interruptions.
Meanwhile, the new AI-powered Interpreter takes it one step further by facilitating real-time translation of in-person conversations. The feature supports smooth two-way and even face-to-face translations directly through the Galaxy Buds’ interface.
To use the Interpreter, all the user has to do is directly speak into the Buds’ mic and their translated voice will be transmitted to the caller on the other end. The translation will be done on the S24, on-device.
Samsung claims that these features will enable near-natural conversation between two individuals, therefore, eliminating the need for them to share their smartphone screens with translated texts to convey their message to each other.
You should keep in mind that you may need to download an additional language pack for the Galaxy AI to translate certain other languages.
Galaxy AI currently supports English (USA, UK, India), French, Hindi, German, Chinese, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese.
Samsung’s Efforts To Keep Users Bounded Within The Ecosystem
The update is a massive improvement over the already impressive features of the Galaxy Buds 2, 2 Pro, and FE. The incorporation of Galaxy AI on the Buds makes a strong case for S24 users to go for it to experience the full power of Samsung’s product ecosystem.
At Samsung’s Unpacked event last month, the company unveiled the Galaxy S24 series of smartphones – S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra – powered by a whole load of AI features, including some that could work on older Galaxy devices like the Circle to Search, Note Assist, Photo Assist, and others.
The Galaxy S22 series, which was launched in early 2022, was not included in the rollout despite using the same chipset as last year’s S23 FE.
In the case of the Galaxy Buds, the higher-end Bud Pro 2 offers 24-bit hi-fi audio, immersive 360-degree sound with Dolby Atmos, and intelligent Audio Noice Cancellation (ANC). The earbuds have a voice detection feature that automatically reduces volume and activates transparency when the user speaks. It also has support for Samsung SmartThings so that users can monitor and control Samsung’s smart devices and appliances by commanding through the Buds’ mic or right from their Galaxy smartphones.
The budget-friendly Galaxy Buds FE also delivers Samsung’s signature sound experience with a powerful base and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) along with Ambient Sound functionality.
