Key Takeaways:
Korean electronics giant Samsung is preparing to launch the latest version of its foldable smartphones in the Galaxy series – the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. The devices are expected to be released during the Olympics in Paris next month, of which Samsung is a main sponsor.
The company has been at the forefront of adopting the latest technologies. This has been no different when it comes to artificial intelligence. The Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24 Ultra, released earlier this year, are considered to be the most advanced AI-powered smartphones in the market. Moreover, the Galaxy series is a dominant force in the smartphone world, going neck to neck with Apple’s iPhones.
According to reports, Samsung is promising a major upgrade in terms of AI with the upcoming Galaxy Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. Leaks have suggested certain advanced generative AI features that will be coming to the high-end foldable.
Although these features are still rumored, they indicate that the tech giant is betting big on AI integration. Here are the potential AI features that could transform user experience on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6.
1. Personalized Summaries
Samsung is rumored to bring a personalized summaries feature to its foldable smartphones. Unlike traditional text summarization tools, this Galaxy AI-powered feature can tailor document summaries based on your personal preferences and understanding of the subject. You can define the tone, length, and specific content and it will generate the most relevant summaries.
Personalized summaries can be used to quickly summarize lengthy work reports and documents, generate concise summaries of study materials, or news articles and blogs for quick reading.
2. Transcript Assist
Transcript Assist on the new Galaxy Z Fold 6 will allow you to record audio that will be transcribed in real-time. The tool can also generate bullet points summarizing the audio with advanced speaker labeling.
Samsung claims the tool is now more accurate in identifying speakers; is multifunctional and can be used in meetings, lectures, and interviews; keeps detailed records of conversations that are important to you; records and summarizes meetings; and takes accurate notes during lectures.
4. Circle to Search
Circle to Search is a generative AI feature that Samsung co-developed with Google. It is exclusive to the Google Pixel 8 series and the Galaxy S24s. The feature enables you to search online for any subject displayed on your screen by simply circling, scribbling, or tapping on it.
It is very useful to identify and shop products that you see in images and videos. The tool can quickly gather relevant information about a product you are interested in. Circle to Search also enhances the smartphone experience by exploring content that you want to see.
5. Handsfree Assist
Handsfree Assist is a safety feature on the Galaxy that promotes safe driving by reducing your need to glance at the screen while behind the wheel. It simplifies communication by audibly summarizing texts that you may receive.
It also provides a list of suggested actions, which you can choose to define how you would like Galaxy AI to handle texting while you are driving.
6. AI Digital Zoom
As per rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to have a 3x optical zoom lens. Beyond that range, the camera shifts to a digital zoom mechanism. Samsung is set to enhance the camera experience by integrating an AI Zoom feature that will drastically improve the quality and detail in photos and videos taken with digital zoom.
7. Instant Slow Motion in Videos
Samsung’s Instant Slow-Mo is an AI feature that can turn your regular videos into slow-motion by adding additional frames. The tool is easy to use as the AI does all the work behind the scenes to create a smooth slow-motion effect while enhancing the video’s overall quality.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 Could Get a Price Hike
Despite claiming it wants to make foldable phones more accessible to regular customers, Samsung is reportedly hiking the prices for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.
According to rumors, both smartphones are expected to cost $100 more than their predecessors. It is not like these phones were affordable in the first place. Last year’s Z Fold 5 started at $1,799 while the Z Flip 5 cost $999, meaning the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 would start from $1,899 and $1,099, respectively.
The Z Fold 6 is expected to be thinner and wider than its predecessor, with the cover display on the front getting a wider aspect ratio. Both devices are set to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
The Z Flip 6 is the one that appears to be getting more upgrades than the bigger Z Fold 6. It has been tipped to get a larger 4,000mAh battery while the exterior screen has been bumped from 3.4 inches on the Z Flip 5 to 3.9 inches. In the camera department, the Z Flip 6’s main camera has been upgraded from a 12MP sensor to a 50MP.
The Z Fold 6 will come in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB models, while the Z Flip 6 will be available in 256GB and 512GB versions.
We will find out more about the devices when Samsung unveils them at the Galaxy Unpacked event in July.
