Key Takeaways:
Samsung is gearing up for its second launch event of the year where it will unveil the latest generation of foldable smartphones. The ‘Galaxy Unpacked’, scheduled for next month, will see the South Korean electronics giant unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6.
Galaxy Fold 6 and Flip 6 Leaked in Promotion Ad Ahead of July Launch
One Reddit user discovered an alleged ad for the new devices on a Kazakhstan website, which showed both the foldable smartphones in a teasing posture, hiding their true design until launch day.
In the ad, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is featured front and center, with the Z Flip 6 taking its place on the side. While for the most part, both smartphones look similar to their predecessors Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 6, there are a few noticeable differences when it comes to design.
The Z Fold 6 featured a more boxy design that gives the impression of a foldable that is wider than previous iterations. However, the leaked image shows only the camera module at the back and one-half of the larger, enclosed screen. The updated camera design is similar to images that were leaked before.
In terms of colors, the Z Fold 6 will get all the color schemes of the Galaxy S24 and S24 Ultra, which means the foldable will be available in a Titanium finish that was exclusive to the Ultra.
Samsung Galaxy Fold 6 and Flip 6 will be Powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Chipset
Rumors suggest that the Z Fold 6 will have the same camera hardware as last year’s model. However, the Korean-exclusive Z Fold 6 Ultra may have an upgraded camera setup that could rival Samsung’s S24 Ultra flagship. Further leaks speculate the foldable includes up to 16GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 1TB of internal storage, and a display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate.
Whereas, the Z Flip 6 does not look much different from last year’s model, apart from the advertisement showing colored camera lens rings that match the device’s body color. This addition could help make apart the camera module from the black bezel that surrounds the 2-inch touch display at the front.
A recent leak spotted FCC certifications for the Z Flip 6 that said it would be sporting a 3,887 mAh battery. The device will support WiFi 6E, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, and 25W fast charging. A Geekbench database showed that it will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, with 8GB of RAM, and up to 1 TB of internal memory.
Galaxy Ring to be Announced Next Month’s Event
Samsung has long been teasing a wearable, the highly-anticipated Galaxy Ring. The ring-shaped smart device will come in finger sizes varying from 5 to 12 inches. It will be powered by a 17mAh battery for the smaller sizes, while the larger rings will have an 18.5mAh battery pack. The largest of the lot will feature a 22.5mAh battery.
FCC certifications say the Galaxy Ring, which can be used to control multiple devices within the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem, will support Bluetooth LE and Bluetooth 5.4 for connectivity. There was also a mention of a cradle for charging the wearable.
Furthermore, the Galaxy Ring will be available in three colorways: Black, Silver, and Gold.
Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event will be held on July 10th in Paris, France. The city is also hosting the 2024 Olympics for which Samsung is a main sponsor. The Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and the Galaxy Ring will be announced during the event.
All three devices could be feature-packed with Galaxy AI, Samsung’s generative AI model that was introduced with the S24 and S24 Ultra in January.
