Key Takeaways:
South Korean electronics giant Samsung is gearing up for the Galaxy Unpacked event, scheduled for next month, where it will unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 alongside wearables like the Galaxy Ring, new Galaxy Watch 7, and Galaxy Buds 3 and 3 Pro wireless earbuds.
While leaks have shown us what to expect from the new foldable smartphones and the smart ring on the design front, there have also been some interesting developments surrounding the Galaxy Buds.
Leaks Show Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 to Sport a Stem-Based Design Akin to Apple’s AirPods
In an image shared on X by “@teqhnikacross” via SamMobile, we can see that Samsung has given its earbuds a massive redesign, making them look rather too familiar. The company has added a stem to the Galaxy Buds 3, inspired by the iconic design of Apple’s AirPods which we have been accustomed to for over half a decade.
The pictures show a pair of earbuds placed in a silicon charging case that looks radically different from what came with the Galaxy Buds 2. The aesthetic is much more modern-looking, and a big shift from the bean or pill-shaped design of its predecessors.
The old bean design has seemingly been replaced by a ‘bean sprout’ look with the Galaxy Buds 3. The addition of a longer stem will supposedly allow users to control the playback of the audio coming through.
The Galaxy Buds 3 will have a metallic finish and a rectangular stem. The earbuds will come in a Type-C charging and docking case with a transparent top. Reports speculate that with the stem, Samsung could expand internal space on the earbuds for extra sensors or a larger battery.
One reason why Samsung went with a stem-based design for its new wireless earbuds could be to offer users a more comfortable fit. It also reduces the amount of space taken up by the buds in the ear itself by allowing engineers to place critical components like batteries, touch controls, and microphones outside of the main body.
Keep in mind that the Galaxy Buds 2 was released way back in 2022, so a Galaxy Buds 3 was somewhat overdue. The leak also suggests that the earbuds will be a significant upgrade over its predecessor, with improved sound capabilities, support for Galaxy AI, and better active noise cancellation.
Samsung Leaks Galaxy Buds 3 and 3 Pro, Watch FE, Watch 7, and Galaxy Ring
Samsung accidentally leaked quite a few of its upcoming products, including the Galaxy Buds 3, in the beta software for the Galaxy Watch 6.
9to5Google reviewer “@RydahDoesTech” on X spotted that when you go to report an issue with the software in the Samsung Members app on the smartwatch, a list of new products appears. This includes the yet-to-be-announced Galaxy Watch FE, Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Buds 3, and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro.
As all of these products have been extensively leaked, the only thing that remains for Samsung to do is officially release them. The tech giant is widely expected to host its Galaxy Unpacked event for the summer on July 10th, where we will see the Galaxy Buds 3 and 3 Pro in the flesh, alongside the Galaxy Flip 6 and Fold 6, Galaxy Ring, and Galaxy Watch 7.
