Samsung just unveiled its flagship smartphone lineup – the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra. The standout feature for the devices this year has surely been its built-in generative AI, called the Galaxy AI, which is laid out all across the phones’ interface and is intended to make users’ lives simpler and easier.
The South Korean tech giant also introduced some intelligent AI features to its keyboard on the Galaxy S24 range. Today we will be explaining some of the top AI tools found on the Samsung keyboard.
Top AI Tools Integrated into Samsung Keyboard
1. Rewrite Texts In Different Styles
With the Galaxy AI, users can rephrase typed sentences in different styles that are suited to the mood of the conversation. For instance, users can ask the AI to rewrite a given sentence in a professional, causal, or social media-specific tone, complete with emojis and hashtags.
2. Real-Time Translation
This year, the keyboard goes beyond paraphrasing. The Galaxy AI can now translate messages or texts in real-time.
If a user is messaging someone who doesn’t speak the same language as them, then instead of going through the troublesome method of copying the text each time, paste it into one of those translation apps before translating it into the other person’s native language and then copying it back before hitting send, they can just ask the Galaxy AI to do the job for them.
To get this done, simply tap the Galaxy AI icon on the keyboard, choose the “Chat Translation” option, select the languages you want to translate from and to and continue chatting like normal.
The AI will automatically translate messages someone sent you as well as the messages you send them in the language the other person understands.
3. Spelling and Grammar Suggestions
The Galaxy AI will read through the typed text to recommend suggestions for correcting any spelling or grammatical mistakes. The feature works similarly to the dictation tool that already exists but is much more efficient and intelligent.
There were also other standout AI features introduced by Samsung on the Galaxy S24 series, which include the following:
Circle to Search
This feature developed in collaboration with Google essentially combines the power of Google Lens’ image and text search with the capabilities of Samsung’s generative AI. Users can take a picture of a plant on the Google app and simply add a query like “Where is this plant found?” beside the image and the Galaxy AI will give you results based on the prompt.
The same can be done on any other apps on the S24. For instance, if you were scrolling through Instagram reels and found an item of clothing that you liked and wanted to know where you could buy it. Then all you have to do is long-press the home button at the bottom of the screen, draw a circle around the object, and Google will provide you with results relevant to the image.
Live Translate
Live Translate is one of the coolest features found on the Galaxy S24. It is capable of translating voice calls in real-time, and what makes it even more impressive is the fact that all the processing required is done on the device.
Furthermore, it is not necessary that the person on the other side needs an S24 to make it happen. They can be calling from a landline and the device will still translate the call for you.
When a user starts a call, they will see a Call Assist button above the dialer controls. When the button is pressed, it presents two options: Text Call and Live Translate. By enabling the latter, the user can specify how they want the call to be translated. The device can also conduct two-way translations in any of the 13 supported languages.
Transcript Assist
Samsung has onboarded its AI onto the Recorder app where it can now automatically label the sentences for each speaker in the transcript. Additionally, if a user happens to miss parts of a group meeting or a lecture, the AI can summarize the event on the Notes app so that they can get a quick recap of the entire session once back.
