Rwanda now has over 6 million mobile subscribers, for a penetration of 57%, according to the latest statistics from the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA).
In the latest statistics, for the first quarter of the year, RURA says Rwanda has a total of 6,039,615 mobile subscribers. MTN Rwandacell has the lion’s share, with 3,452,182; followed by Tigo with 1,806,271 and Airtel with 781,162.
RURA also noted that 54.6% of subscribers had registered their SIM cards to date. The national SIM registration exercise kicked off in February this year.
