Key Takeaways:
CMF, the budget-friendly sub-brand of British tech startup Nothing, will launch its first-ever smartphone, the CMF Phone 1, on July 8th. According to the announcement made via social media posts on Tuesday, the next Community Update event is where the mid-range phone will be unveiled.
The CMF Phone 1 will be joined by two other offerings from the Carl Pei-led company – the CMF Buds Pro 2 and the CMF Watch Pro 2. All three devices are expected to form a software ecosystem.
Nothing will Launch CMF Phone 1 on July 8th
In a post made on X, CMF and Nothing’s official accounts posted a brief video teasing three products with a rotary dial in the corner. The physical dial has been a mainstay on CMF’s earlier products and is expected to be found on Phone 1.
CMF launched the Buds Pro and Watch Pro last year as super-affordable accessories for Nothing’s customers, and they were pretty well received. Although it is unclear what the company has in store for this year, rumors suggest its new smartwatch could be circular in design.
This development comes a few days after various leaks that surfaced hinted at the specifications of the CMF Phone 1. The device is set to look much more like a rebranded Nothing Phone 2a without the fancy Glyph lighting.
Furthermore, the CMF Watch Pro 2 was spotted on the website of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), hinting at an imminent launch in the country.
In a teaser video uploaded earlier this month, the CMF Phone 1 is shown to sport an orange faux leather back panel with a rotary dial in the bottom-right corner. Rumors suggest that the dial could be part of a locking or unlocking mechanism that would allow users to easily swap out batteries or back covers.
