After a long wait, it has been confirmed that Nothing Phone 2a, an innovative smartphone will be launched in India and globally on March 5th this year.
The smartphone is an initiative of the Nothing company founded by Carl Pei, after parting his ways with OnePlus.
The Nothing Phone 2a will give tough competition in the mid-range segment of smartphones currently sold in the Indian markets.
Currently, this segment is flooded with feature-filled phones from popular brands like Redmi and Realme.
Nothing brings some very interesting aspects to the table. The Nothing OS uses a stock Android look and feel that claims to be bloatware-free.
The Nothing camera uses Quad Bayer sensors and has optical image stabilization (OIS) technology for sharper images.
Nothing Phone 2a, the new phone yet to be launched, will have an LTPO OLED display with a peak brightness of 1600 nits which offers great viewing angles.
The design
Speculations were going on regarding the design of the newly getting launched Nothing Phone 2a. There were rumors surrounding the glyph interface, which has been the cornerstone of Nothing phones, to be missing in the Phone 2a’s design.
It is a feature that helps the Nothing Phone users to assign a specific glyph pattern to individual callers for easy identification.
However, the release of the official images suggests the glyph interface will be very much in place in the upcoming Phone 2a ending the wild guesses.
Phone 2a will be available in black and white color variants. As part of retaining its unique look, the smartphone will have its iconic back panel.
The plastic frame body is said to be significantly lighter with power and volume buttons built using metal.
Specifications
The smartphone is said to have a 6.7-inch OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7200 pro chipset and will have a 5000 mAh battery with 45W fast charging.
The phone will have a 50 MP primary and 50 MP ultra-wide dual camera setup in the rear and a front camera of 32MP for selfies.
It is expected to have 12GB RAM with booster technology that enhances its performance. The new Nothing Phone will have a NothingOS 2.5 operating system based on Android 14.
Pricing
Nothing has not officially announced anything on the pricing yet. However, they have hinted that it would be cheaper than Phone 1 and could be very well below ₹30,000.
The good news is the company has officially stated that they will manufacture Nothing Phone 2a in India.
The Nothing service center has already opened in Bengaluru in 2023 ahead of the launch of Nothing Phone 2a.
History
Nothing was founded in 2020 and the company launched its first phone in 2021. The Nothing Phone 1 has a transparent design with a novel glyph interface which quickly captured the attention of the markets.
It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ processor and a 4500mAh battery with 33W charging capability. It came with Nothing OS, an Android-based operating system that is user-friendly and quite robust.
