Finnish mobile phone manufacturer Nokia has rewarded top 100 wholesalers, “The Fabulous 100,” through its recently-introduced “Nokia Loyalty Programme.’
The firm says the new quarterly reward scheme will assess and select top 100 Wholesalers of the brand. Some of the first winners told Biztechafrica.com that such a reward system could only make them to strive to do more.
The awards ceremony, held at the Grandeur Event Center, Oregun Ikeja in Lagos, rewarded wholesalers in three broad categories, including gold, silver and bronze. The gold winners received cash rewards and four day, all-expenses paid trips to Paris with their spouses. The chief executives of Finest Communications, Dallas Communications and SLOT Systems were the lucky winners.
In his remark during the event, the Vice President of Nokia West Africa, James Rutherfoord, said the Nokia Loyalty Programme was conceived to inspire competitive drive among the wholesalers to desire to belong in the top 100, thus increasing stock up volumes.
He said that the Top 100 were selected based on their performance, noting that other wholesalers who may scale up their sales and meet the set criteria will also be duly rewarded, as the event will be held on quarterly basis.
Shedding more light on the reason for the loyalty scheme, Rutherfoord said that the scheme would also enable the brand to foster a sense of belonging and partnership between the brand and its wholesalers, with a view to forming stronger ties and wading into the very competitive mobile phone market.
While noting that the award had come to stay as a token of appreciation to Nokia’s major stakeholders, he urged other wholesalers of the brand to take a cue from those already rewarded, and to strive to clinch awards for themselves during the next quarter.
