Customers of Ghana’s leading network operator MTN and Ecobank Ghana can now walk into any of the 54 MTN Service Centres across the country to purchase any Samsung smartphone devices and pay in installments over a period of 6 to 12 months, thanks to a new Customer Device Financing programme rolled out by MTN, Ecobank and Samsung in Accra.
Under this new programme which is expected to last for two years, customers of MTN and Ecobank will also enjoy free data bundles for 6 months in addition to the offer.
Speaking during the launch of the new programme, the Senior Manager for Consumer Marketing, Nana Amma Asantewa Amegashi noted that with the rise in demand for smartphones the constant upgrade of technology solutions, people’s requirements of smart phones or devices and the demand for data and reliable connectivity keeps changing and growing by the day.
Making reference to a recent research which indicates Ghana’s year-on-year digital growth as at January 2019 is 11%, and expected to increase in the years to come, Mrs Amegashi revealed that a conscious effort has been made over years by MTN Ghana to create an opportunity for many of its customers to have access to devices and phones that will enable them access data and connect to friends and family more easily.
“We have for a few years now partnered with select Original Device Manufacturers to design smart phones which are affordable. A few years after implementing this strategy, we are happy to say that 4 out of every 10 of our customers are smartphone users,” she disclosed.
According to her, with the launch of the new device financing programme, MTN, Samsung and Ecobank are giving an opportunity to more people who want to enhance their digital experience to do so without stress.
In his remarks, the Regional Head of Consumer Banking for Ecobank Ghana and Anglophone West Africa, Tara Squire, said “Ecobank comes into this partnership with a bouquet of financing arrangements that is structured to suit the varied needs of our customers. One can pick a top of the range Samsung phone or other hand held Samsung device of choice and pay monthly.”
“We present very flexible, fast, exciting, convenient and cost effective consumer credit schemes to suit every pocket. It does not matter the size of your salary. Just walk into the nearest MTN Shop or any Ecobank Branch and a Relationship Manager or Branch Manager will be ready to assist you,” he added.
