The MTN Foundation in Cameroon has handed a considerable stock of medication and medical equipment to ASCOVIME to improve medical treatment provided to rural communities.
The collaboration between the MTN Foundation and ASCOVIME seeks to boost the capacity of medical assistance to the rural population through organising multiple health campaigns during which the following are provided:
- Medical consultations;
- Distribution of prescribed medicines ;
- Surgical operations ;
- Lab tests;
- Sensitization on major endemics as per Government’s health policy.
MTN Foundation’s contribution will support ten full health campaigns with each benefitting roughly 1000 people. In addition, the medical equipment provided to ASCOVIME will boost the medical equipment of the hospital launched by this benevolent association ten years ago.
Through this partnership, MTN Foundation wants to restore hope in these rural communities, often underprivileged, and without easy access to adequate medical treatment. This engagement is therefore one of the responses “to the ethical demand by Cameroonians, expecting companies to invest beyond their sector of activity, in seeking solutions to the problems faced by the population”, declared Jean-Melvin Akam, Executive Secretary of the MTN Foundation.
