Mozambique’s EMTPM introduces etickets on buses

Commuters travelling on Expresso da Empresa Municipal de Transportes Públicos de Maputo (EMTPM) municipal buses may now pay their fares using etickets only.
The new eticket system requires commuters to load a smart card with sufficient credit to pay for their trip.
With effect from today, the first phase of the eticket system applies to major routes in Maputo, Matola, Boane and Mozal.
The new eticketing system is expected to improve passenger convenience and safety, and ensure that buses are not overloaded.
