Botswana’s Mascom Wireless is set to celebrate its 15th anniversary with a cocktail of entertainment in the dormitory town of Francistown. According to Mascom’s Tebogo Lebotse, Chief Communications and Public Relations Officer, the organisation’s key stakeholders were a cornerstone of the birthday celebrations.
“Mascom has yet another opportunity to bring the brand to the people; the theme for this year’s 15th birthday is “Celebrating 15 years of the best entertainment … Siya Ba – Rocka” which acknowledges Mascom’s commitment to providing great entertainment while giving local artists a platform to share the stage with international acts. This commitment has seen Mascom bringing events such as Mascom Live Sessions, Mascom Boosta Bash, Mascom BOMU Annual Music Awards (2006, 2007 and 2009), as well as talent searches like MyStar and MyAfrican Dream,” Lebotse said.
A great line-up of well renowned award winning artists will be making a trip to Ghetto (Francistown) on May 4th at Dumela Lodge, Francistown’s premier entertainment venue. “Our home – grown Culture Spears, Charma Girl, Mr O and DJ Kuchi will “wow” the revellers while Mafikizolo, South Africa’s sensational duo, will be the main act alongside the talented producer-cum-performer group Uhuru.
With their chart-topping “Khona” playing in everyone’s ears, there’s no doubt the event will be in line with Mascom’s commitment to hosting entertainment extravaganzas around Botswana.”
In 2011, the Mascom 13th Birthday was held to great acclaim and appreciation in Mahalapye. Headlined by DJ Clock, Ekentolo, Dmos, Groove Cartel, House Junkies, Groovy Souls, DJ Anthem and Ricky Lamar, the event ensured revellers enjoyed themselves in an intimate setting at Seduda Lodge.
This was followed in 2012 by the 14th Birthday celebrations in Kanye, which cemented Mascom’s reputation for hosting stellar events. DJ Clock, DJ Qness and Mono T were charged with ensuring that the history of great birthday bashes held by Mascom continued. Ably supported by local acts Ozzy F Teddy, Maghebula and Matsetse Dance Troupe, the night’s entertainment was rounded up by DJs. Easy B, DJ Sly, Anthem, Fondo Fire, Kriss, Smallz, Kops.
Francistown is Botswana’s second largest city next to the border with Zimbabwe.
