Pixel users running on Android 15 or QPR1 beta have been facing issues with major Google apps like Gmail, making them unusable. This problem, first reported on Reddit via 9 to 5 Google, is caused by a Google Play services issue, which explains why it is mainly affecting Google apps. The problem has been disrupting day-to-day operations for those affected. However, Google has already released Android 25 QPR1 Beta 3, which addresses several issues.
The issue began affecting the pixel users yesterday, Sunday, November 3, with numerous reports flooding Reddit. The problem stems from the latest Google Play service beta update, which caused issues out of the blue. Affected users are receiving an error message stating,[App] won’t run without Google Play Services, which are not supported by your device.” Many participants in the Play Services beta program haven’t experienced the bug till now. However, numerous Reddit users affected by the issue report were enrolled in the beta program.
Interestingly, they have found that exiting the beta program and installing the stable version of Play Services resolves the problem. There is also a minority number of Reddit users claiming that they never participated in any Google Play Services beta program but are still experiencing the problem. The only effective solution they see for this problem is to go back to the older Play Service version.
If you are a beta Play Service user, you could exit the Google Play Service beta to put this issue behind you until this bug is completely resolved. You can go to the Play Services Play Store listing and exit the beta program. After exiting the beta program, restart your Pixel phone. Head back to the Play Services Play Store listing, install the original version of it, and again restart your device as a precaution. Another way to resolve this issue on your own is by uninstalling the updates.
Proceed with this method with caution, as it has been known to cause unintended consequences. Specifically, it may delete saved cards from Google Wallet, unpair Google messages on the web, and disrupt other play services-related settings. If you are willing to address potential smaller issues later, you can attempt this fix; however, consider the potential risks before proceeding.
In order to uninstall the updates, you should head to the settings option and then select apps. You have many options. ‘Choose to see all apps’. You can find three dots in the top right corner, tap on them, and select ‘ show system’ from it. Scroll down to find the Google Play services and click on them.
Now you will again find three dots on the top right corner of the screen; choose the ‘uninstall updates’ option from it. There will be a pop-up notification warning you, “Replace this app with the factory version. All data will be removed.” Tap on the OK option and proceed with the uninstall. Now you will be back to the ordinary version, and you can update it again from the Play Store any time you wish.
Just keep in mind that updating the app from the Play Store would bring you back to the same time you just uninstalled. These steps are proven to be useful by several Reddit users, so if you are one of the Pixel users who is affected by the bug, try to follow these steps to resolve the issue for the time being. Google will be taking care of this bug very soon.
