Google Chrome, the internet browser responsible for 62% of all traffic on the World Wide Web, is getting a slew of major updates this month as part of its 15-year celebrations.
According to a blog post by Google Chrome VP Parisa Tabriz, Alphabet’s web browser will “get a new look” on the desktop in the coming weeks that will be based on the company’s ‘Material You’ design language.
The latest version of Chrome will get icons “with a focus on legibility” and has also created new color palettes that it claims will “better complement” tabs and toolbar.
Users can sign into Chrome using their Google account, enabling them seamless access across all Google services, such as Gmail, Google Drive, Google Maps, and YouTube. Google also allows multiple users to sign in and browse from the same desktop or laptop but under different Chrome profiles.
Latest Version Of Google Chrome Will Allow Users To Set Color Palettes To Profiles
With its latest update, Google is prepared to release differentiating color palettes to help users distinguish between different Chrome aliases. Users can choose a preferred color for their profile.
The browser will also release a dark and light mode option, which users can toggle depending on their preferences. Customers can select either one as the default Chrome view setting or set a time of the day to change between dark and light modes while surfing the web.
Google is also improving certain accessibility features to make Chrome much more user-friendly. The browser will now implement a more comprehensive menu to provide faster access to Chrome extensions, Google Translate, and Google Password Manager. The menu will be available within the three-dot icon on the browser’s top-right corner.
Chrome To Add Google’s AI-Powered Search Tool – SGE
Another exciting feature coming to Chrome is the ability to search the internet for similar images found on a given webpage. Users will also be able to install artificial intelligence (AI) extensions, Editor’s picks, and personalized recommendations to make their browsing much more unique.
Google also highlighted a new search feature that shows additional information like related searches and information about the site’s source in a side panel parallel to the main page.
The tech giant is set to expand the Search Generative Experience (SGE) – its AI-powered search tool – to provide Chrome users with a completely new browsing experience.
At launch, SGE will only be available to Chrome users in the United States who have signed up for the program on Google’s Search Labs.

Chrome Will Identify And Prevent Threats From Malicious Websites In Real-Time
Along with the updated features, Google is also expected to bring a host of safety upgrades to Chrome. The browser’s Safe Browsing tool has been updated to verify the authenticity of any given site against Google’s database of known bad sites in real time.
The company claims that by shortening the time it takes between identification and prevention of threats, which came down from every 30 to 60 minutes to checking and blocking sites in real-time, it expects to see a 25% improvement in protecting users from malware and phishing attacks.
