Ghana’s Local Government Service Secretariat has launched a Human Resource Management Information System to improve on self-delivery of managers at metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies.
ICT expert Mr Gerald Oki said the project aimed to capture personal data of employees at the Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
“Some of the personal data to be collected includes identification cards, locations, next of kin and educational qualifications,” he said.
He said the project would help human resource managers to generate reports on a monthly basis for their directors. The system, which was piloted in the Greater Accra Region with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, would be replicated in other regions, starting with the Central and Volta regions.
Dr Callistus Mahama, Head of Local Government Services, said quality and accuracy of information were essential to the day to day management of human resource in every organisation.
He said the project was an important concept being introduced to manage data at the district level.
