Get Safe Online Rwanda has announced a webinar on Social Media Safety and Privacy, scheduled for Friday, 15 January 2021 at 3pm, Harare, Africa.
This Get Safe Online event is part of the organisation’s ongoing, country-wide campaign to promote safe online behaviours for users in Rwanda.
“Social media is an integral part of how people use the internet, and it is extremely useful for connecting and staying updated with friends, family and colleagues. While the majority of interactions on social media is harmless, there are still risks involved when it comes do dealing with hackers, stalkers or even identity thieves,” the organisation notes.
The announcement, which was on twitter, does give further details about the full agenda programme for the event.
About Get Safe Online Rwanda
The Get Safe Online campaign was launched in Rwanda on 20th July 2020, and has been running on different online and offline platforms for the last five months.
The campaign in Rwanda came on the heels of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and lockdown, where people globally are relying on online technology more than ever.
In implementing the Campaign in Rwanda, Get Safe Online has worked in partnership with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA), and the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA).
Get Safe Online Rwanda has also collaborated with youth-based initiatives such as the Broadcasters Community, Girls in ICT and the Kigali Global Shapers; in spreading messages on the importance of online safety.
