Egypt’s Public Prosecutor has instructed the authorities to enforce a block on access to pornographic websites.
Prosecutor Abdel Maguid noted that a ruling in 2009 had ordered that such sites should be blocked. However, this has not been enforced. In a letter to the authorities last week, the Prosecutor said pornographic sites had to be blocked.
However, ICT Minister Hany Mahmoud has stated that enforcing such a ban would prove difficult, and that raising awareness among the youth would be preferable.
