Barclays Bank of Botswana, (BBB) finished 2011 on a high ICT note: by introducing internet banking in the country.
The launch of the Barclays Internet banking took place at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) and was graced by the Vice President of Botswana Lieutenant general Mompati Merafhe, cabinet ministers and other high level dignitaries.
The Managing Director of Barclays Bank in Botswana, Wilfred Mpai, unpacked the new internet banking service amid a lot of jubilation from the expectant customers and invited guests.
He told the delegates that “with Barclay’s internet banking, one can transfer money to other banks, both locally and internationally.”
He added that the other benefits which accrue from this service included but were not limited to bill payments, cheque book ordering, mobile top-up, statement ordering and free unpaid stop orders.
Two lucky winners walked away with prizes of iPads for having registered for internet banking on the night.
