Baidu Inc. a multinational tech company headquartered in China claims that it was able to develop AI sufficient enough to compete with ChatGPT and the US. The claims were made by Robin Li, the founder, and CEO of Baidu Inc.
Robin Li was talking in Beijing, as part of a Q&A section on the running of Ernie 4.0, the generative AI model that his company has developed, on Tuesday. He took the stage in an auditorium that previously functioned as a steel mill and is now converted to serve similar purposes and has the capability to house a wide audience. The tech billionaire was talking about the possibilities and the abilities of the new AI model. According to him, the new AI mode is able to solve even complex puzzles on the fly. He continued that Ernie is developed to match the ChatGPT in terms of general capabilities and sophistication.
Ernie 4.0, so far, has more than 45 million users while the total number of people that use ChatGPT is 180 million. It is to be considered that ChatGPT has been launched and active for the past many months.
Presently, China uses a search engine namely Search Leader, and is mentioned as a Chinese equivalent to Google, one of the most popular search engines globally, developed by the US computer scientists Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
