The Apple Vision Pro has now leaked with a supposed 2025 launch date and the current Apple Vision Pro users seem angry about it. Apple plans to release the updated Vision Pro with the M5 chip to Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
The current VisionPro is equipped with the M2 chip which debuted in 2022. New features were not revealed any further about the new model. The current Vision Pro costs $3,499; this pricing had limited sales compared to other Apple products. Apple didn’t have much to say about this other than the product details and how it is an early-adaptor product and that many people would not initially understand this. The people who use it today will have tomorrow’s technology today, the company added.
Other than the chip upgrade, the new Apple leak revealed that the expected lower-price headset will be delayed until 2027 and that the existing model will be replaced with an upgraded M5 processor in 2025. This raised many eyebrows as expected and people had many things to say about it.
Users even went as far as saying that Apple has chosen to delay the less expensive Vision Pro for the reason that “a cheaper price tag would not help create successful use cases.” In the future, Apple is planning to develop at least four new Vision devices, the first being launched next year and the next model, the year after. Possibilities with this new launch may be an approach between innovation and practicality as said by new reports.
This consistent approach of Apple seems to have stricken a chord with positive reviews as many users comment on Apple’s commitment to perfect the Vision Pro ecosystem and ensure robust support from developers. Tech enthusiasts will surely have a keen eye on the new updates and upcoming launches for sure searching for what’s new and better, not missing a chance to criticize the new devices.
In this era of racing for AR/VR adoption, we can’t really tell if Apple is struggling to find new features for the betterment of the device as we can see about its current update. The new launch of the lower-priced Vision Pro also seems to have no guarantee as the team is still working on it. In my opinion, as the Vision Pro is not a mass-market product, the existing process itself is very high.
On the other hand, with this launch, Apple is trying to send a message that the company is committed to the visionOS platform and that the inclusion of Apple Intelligence will onboard new people to the VisionOS platform overnight. However, I don’t think this will appeal to any new people as the price will only be higher than the existing price of $3,499 which is already high for the current version of the Visio Pro.
As the Vision Pro is a device that will only interest fewer people than the release of devices like smartphones and laptops, I don’t think more people will be willing to invest more money on a device that they will use rarely.
