Of the 105 new sites being rolled out by Airtel, 58 have already been commissioned to improve signal quality with faster connections. Lusaka province has 31 of the 105 sites.
“Over two years ago we rolled out the biggest 4G network in Zambia and pioneered an era of affordable internet in Zambia. This was followed a year later with the 100% 4G Konse, an initiative that has brought 4G technology to each and every part of the country,” said Managing Director of Airtel, Mr. Apoorva Mehrotra.
“We have also activated 4G on 900Mhz frequency which has improved data user experience on 4G as well as improved indoor user experience. Our goal is to bring to our customers affordable and innovative products and services, but most importantly a good network experience hence the addition of more sites with the Eastern Province getting 15 new 2G, 3G and 4G all encompassed sites,” Mehrotra added.
The Airtel MD also said that Airtel is committed to ensuring that customers are able to communicate with family and friends during this period that the Country is battling with the COVID 19 pandemic.
“We still encourage our customers to take advantage of our Airtel Money service in order to pay for various goods and services as this is the safest way to transact especially in this difficult time we are undergoing,” he explained.
