2nd eCommerce Expo opens in Accra

The second eCommerce Exposition has opened in Ghana’s capital Accra with a call on eCommerce service operators to provide easy and accessible online trading platforms to meet the ever growing demand of the country’s emerging middle class. Addressing the delegates during the opening ceremony of the second eCommerce Expo at the Accra International Conference Centre, the Deputy Minister of Communications Felix Ofosu Kwakye indicated the opportunity available for the growth of the eCommerce industry in the country due to the government huge investments into the ICT sector of the Ghanaian. According to him the current deployment of fibre optic cables along the country’ eastern corridor route has helped extend internet to the northern parts of Ghana thus expanding the reach of industry players.
The two days event which held on the theme “Unleashing Ghana’s Online Potential” is the largest gathering of companies and professionals from electronic commerce websites, Telecommunications, Banks, Internet service providers, Software Designers, solution providers in the mobile commerce and e-banking among others.
Organised by OML Africa, the Ghana eCommerce Expo is a prestigious event for the online business industry and designed to help boost the growth of secure online trade, while the exhibition would be a display of the latest technologies and solutions in ecommerce, mobile commerce, cutting-edge software that were currently available in the country.
Speakers including Haris Broumidis (CEO, Vodafone Ghana); Prince Kofi Kludjeson (Executive Chairman, Alltel); Harsh Sarda (MD, Nielsen, Africa Vertical Markets); Albert Biga (CEO, Zoobashop), Derek Appiah (Country Manager, Microsoft),Sandra Kyerematen Abrokwa (Country Manager, Tonaton), Claire Staal (Country Manager, Jovago.com), Albert Antwi-Bosaiako, (CEO, eCrime Bureau) and Stephen Nana Osei-Boadi( Head, Digital Marketing, PZ Cussons) would be sharing their thoughts and experiences with delegates.
